ReTree

Restoring forests. Building resilience. One tree at a time.

A Community Stewardship Tradition

Each year, community members of all ages come together for ReTree, a hands-on event that promotes reforestation, climate resilience, and stewardship. Since 2019, ReTree has supported the Yampa River Forest Restoration Project by planting and maintaining native trees along the river and its tributaries. These restoration efforts help cool river temperatures, store carbon, provide wildlife habitat, and strengthen the overall health of our watersheds.

Why It Matters

Restoring riparian forests is one of the most effective local climate actions we can take. Trees planted through ReTree provide:

  • Carbon sequestration
  • Reduced sedimentation and erosion
  • Improved water quality and retention
  • Cooler water temperatures that benefit aquatic ecosystems
  • Habitat for birds and wildlife
