CARbon-Free Challenge

Go CARbon-Free with us in June!

Each summer, Western Resilience Center hosts a family-friendly CARbon-Free Challenge where participants can sign up individually or as a team to log their car-free miles and be entered in a fun competition and chance to earn great prizes.

Participating in the challenge enables you to:

  • Put your health first by getting exercise on your daily commute while helping to promote clean air.
  • Build connections with your family, coworkers and neighbors through friendly competition and celebration at the end of challenge party.
  • Have the chance to see wildlife and plants.
  • Zoom past traffic while advocating for a community where CARbon-Free transportation is the first choice and has all the needed infrastructure to be safe and attainable.
  • Save money on gas and collectively avoid emitting thousands of tons of carbon!

How It Works

Register for the challenge and commit to using alternative transportation (walk, bike, longboard, etc.) at least once per week from June 1-30. If you are competing as a team, each team member needs to register.

Register in one of three categories:

  • Solo Participant.
  • Family Team (doesn’t have to be the same family but must have at least one child and one adult on the team, up to six members).
  • Adult Team (teams can include up to four members, you may have many different teams from the same company or a group of like-minded friends).

Join the celebration and announcement of winners and prizes at the End of Challenge Party.

Log your miles

Google Sheet (coming soon for 2027!) — All instructions for use of the Google Sheet can be found on the first tab.

Compete against other teams and participants to see who can log the most alternative transportation miles/trips for the chance to win awesome prizes.

Participants can expect weekly emails during the challenge with leaderboard updates and upcoming mini events/challenges. At the end of the challenge we will celebrate our winners with a great party and a chance to receive prizes!

If you have questions or would like to sponsor the challenge, please contact tad.lane@westernresilience.org.
