Community Meeting: Waste Diversion

Join Western Resilience Center for our virtual monthly community meeting to learn about volume-based pricing, or pay-as-you-throw, which is a proven strategy for increasing residential recycling volumes. The key win of this program is that smaller trash bins cost less than larger ones, so it’s a opportunity for households to recycle more, trash less, and pick a small bin for the win! We are pleased to host Jen Schenk, Executive Director of High Country Conservation Center, and Alicia Archibald, City of Steamboat Springs Community Recycling Coordinator, as our Featured Speakers. Jen will share insights on Summit County’s volume-based pricing structure, lessons learned and metrics on cost-savings and waste diversion. Alicia will give an update on where the City is at in its consideration of volume-based pricing and highlight the City’s survey.
