Climate Crew: ReTree Monitoring
Western Resilience Center’s Resilient Land and Water team is seeking volunteers to help monitor cottonwood trees planted during ReTree, part of the Yampa River Forest Restoration Program (YRFRP). This annual monitoring effort tracks tree growth and survival, and the data collected directly informs future planting practices along the river. Monitoring is a big undertaking for one person to handle alone, so even a few extra hands make a real difference — this is a great opportunity for anyone interested in citizen science and curious about the ongoing work of the YRFRP to get hands-on experience and help gather meaningful data for the river restoration effort. We’re looking for 2-3 volunteers per day. If you’re interested in volunteering, please fill out our interest form so we can coordinate further!
When: August 24–28, 9 a.m. – Noon
Where: Monitoring spans from Catamount Lake to Hayden, with the majority of sites located within Steamboat Springs city limits.
